Dr. John Jacob Rendleman was born July 15, 1863, in Makanda, Ill. and attended Southern Illinois University until 1880. He then taught school near his old home before beginning his formal education in the study of medicine. He attended the School of Medicine at the University of Tennessee and went on to get another degree from Jefferson Medical College at Philadelphia. Dr. Rendleman then opened a private practice and worked in Southern Illinois, making house calls, usually on horseback. He moved...
